With HP Artist Software and the HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer, you can now easily produce high-quality reproductions of watercolors, paintings, and drawings or sketches suitable for sale or exhibition. This solution is ideal for professional photographers who want to expand their businesses by offering high-quality fine art reproduction services to artists and galleries, as well as for museums and fine art publishers and printmakers who want to optimize their fine art reproduction workflow. Among the many applications for fine art reproductions are: - Exhibition of gallery-quality reproductions.
- Sales of limited-edition reproductions of watercolors, paintings, and drawings or sketches.
- Archiving and restoration of national collections.
- Reproductions of private collections or family paintings.
HP Artist Software automates tasks and streamlines processes, reducing the production time from hours to minutes. And lower costs and higher productivity are just the beginning. Once your image is ready, the HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer steps in to deliver consistent results, print after print. Using HP Vivera pigment inks and a wide variety of HP's fine art papers and canvas, you can rely on high-quality prints that last for more than 200 years. [1] HP Artist Software is an HP DreamColor technology that simplifies the workflow for digital image capture and correction tasks:
- Automatically corrects for light uniformity: You don’t need to measure with a light-meter every inch of the surface; you can place lights where you like and just take one picture of a white reference card.
- Automatically calculates adjusted colors optimized for printing, based on the digital image captured and on the spectral measure ments of the artwork. This closed-looped system uses the original artwork itself to automatically drive the color gamut mapping operations.
- Automatically generates a digital image with an embedded ICC profile unique to the characteris tics of the artwork that you have just captured.[2]
This calibrates the system consisting of the camera, lighting and unique artwork.
The digital image file is then ready to be printed by an HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer on a wide selection of HP media, confidently producing one high-quality fine art print after another.
HP Artist Software works with a select list of capture systems (lights and cameras –including digital backs, bodies, lenses, and filters) and a printing system (the HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer is required for HP Artist Software to compute and generate the output digital file).

|
1. Take a picture of the artwork. 2. Take spectral reflectance measurements on the artwork with an external spectrophotometer[3] (about 50 measurements for optimal results). 3. Take a picture of a white card as reference. 4. Take spectral reflectance measurements on the white card with an external spectrophotometer (about 9 measurements for optimal results). 5. Enter the capture and measurement digital files, and HP Artist Software will generate a digital image file with an embedded custom ICC profile.
